Written: ~735 BC→Fulfilled: ~5 BC

Prophecy & Fulfillment
Old Testament Prophecy
Isaiah 7:14
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 1:23
""The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us")."
Commentary
The name Immanuel encapsulates the entire theology of the incarnation: God himself taking on human flesh to dwell with his people. Matthew's Gospel opens and closes with this theme (1:23 and 28:20: "I am with you always").
