Prophecy & Fulfillment
Old Testament Prophecy
Daniel 7:13-14
"In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven... He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away."
New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 26:64
""You have said so," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.""
Commentary
Jesus's use of "Son of Man" throughout the Gospels deliberately echoes Daniel 7. At his trial, he explicitly combined Daniel 7:13 with Psalm 110:1, claiming both the exaltation and the coming in glory. The high priest's reaction (tearing his robes) shows he understood this as a messianic claim.
